The summer TV schedule continues to take shape: The CW has just added another lineup to the mix by announcing official premiere dates for a handful of shows. Unsurprisingly, not many of them sound all that promising, with the exception of the network's upcoming Whose Line Is It Anyway? revival.

The new version of the improv comedy show will be hosted by the lovely and amazing Aisha Tyler (Archer, The Talk) and will kick off The CW's warm-weather schedule on Tuesday, July 16 at with back-to-back new episodes starting 8pm. Former cast members Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady, and Colin Mochrie will all return, and the show's format will remain largely the same (the cast plays a bunch of improv games with prompts from the host and the audience; good times ensue). 

Okay, what else, what else? Actually, there are only three more shows to talk about: Perfect Score premieres the same night as Whose Line; it's a half-hour dating show hosted by Arielle Kebbel (The Vampire Diaries' Lexi) where contestants can win cash in addition to getting dates. Breaking Pointe, a docu-reality series set at a professional ballet company in Salt Lake City, returns for Season 2 on Monday, July 29. And finally, The Hunt rounds things out Wednesday, July 31; it's an hour-long "wilderness competition" series with elements of both Survivor and The Hunger Games (no murder, though!) that puts twelve two-person teams in "a fenced-in enclosure in the middle of the wild, where they must live for one month and compete against each other for scarce resources" for a price of $250,000 on the line.

That all sounds... well, it sounds mostly not noteworthy and partially terrible, but it's summer television on a broadcast network, folks. Cable's where it's at.

Don't you want to know how Season 2 of Whitney ends? Of course you do! NBC has announced the season finale dates for its current lineup, and if any of you folks out there are still watching NBC, you can find those dates below. As for the highlights, the finale for the network's big great hit Revolution is set for May 27, Community ends its fourth season (and maybe the whole series?) on May 9, Parks and Recreation finishes a week before Community on May 2, and The Voice will air its live two-hour finale on June 18. As for the aforementioned Whitney, no one cares. (Just kidding, Whitney goes out with back-to-back episodes on—double just kidding, no one cares!) It was previously announced that The Office will call it a series with a one-hour finale on May 16.

Fox is helping you plan your summer vacation, and they get their way, instead of packing up the kids and mini-van and exploring the majesties of the Grand Canyon, you'll instead be home on the couch watching people who think they can dance. The network announced dates for both its season finales and summer premieres today, with the highlights being the season finales of American Idol and The Following, and the series premiere of the wacky new workplace reality show Does Someone Have to Go.

Let's start with the finales: A new American Idol champ will be crowned May 16 in the second hour of a two-part finale. As usual, it will be tape-delayed so by the time it airs on the West Coast, you should already be able to purchase the winner's Christmas album, even though you won't know who the winner is. Because of The Following's shortened 15-episode season, the Kevin Bacon-starring series will wrap things up on April 29 with the reveal that Ryan Hardy has been one of Carroll's followers all along, but then an argument between the two forces Hardy to start his own cult of serial killers who practice the preachings of Robert Louis Stevenson.

This summer, prepare yourself for the very summery show Does Someone Have to Go, a reality program that gives businesses a chance to fix themselves by handing the power to some of the employees. The employees can then use their power to suggest new ideas, fire slacking coworkers, or just run the company into the ground. This sounds like a terrible idea, and I feel bad for everyone who is participating in it. Also coming this summer is Fox's new Saturday-night block, Animation Domination High-Def, featuring short-form animated series Axe Cop, High School USA!, Golan the Insatiable, and more. It makes its debut Saturday, July 27 from 11pm to 12:30am.

Showtime has turned Sundays, once a day of worship, football, and hangovers, into evenings of lasciviousness! And we're totally okay with that. The network has announced return dates for Californication, House of Lies, and Shameless: All three series will debut new seasons on Sunday, January 13.

Shameless's Season 3 premiere will start things off at 9pm, jumping forward a few months after the events of the Season 2 finale. Frank in Mexico = bueno times.

That'll be followed at 10pm by the Season 2 premiere of House of Lies, which will examine what happens to Marty's team after the big merger showdown.

And still kicking at 10:30pm will be Californication, now heading into Season 6, with Hank's book being turned into a Broadway musical. Joining the cast this season will be Maggie Grace and Jorge Garcia of Lost fame. And there will be boobs. That's a promise. Let's just hope they aren't Jorge's.

Look, everyone's been busy this summer stocking up on back-to-school sales on paste (so delicious), so we all have an excuse for not keeping up on the teeny-tiny bits of unofficial news that have trickled out over the last few months. FX knows this, so the network decided to remind us of when its fall shows will return with an official announcement of premiere dates for shows like Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Things start off in a week when Jax Teller and the rest of the hairy members of SAMCRO (minus all the ones that died last season) return for Season 5 of Sons of Anarcy on September 11 at 10pm. The season premiere will be a 90-minute episode that will keep you revved up until 11:30pm, way past my bed time! Damn you, Kurt Sutter!

After the fall premiere of The Ultimate Fighter Fridays on September 14, FX takes a chill pill until mid-October, when It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, and Brand X with Russell Brand return on October 11 starting at 10pm. Rumor has it that in the new season of It's Always Sunny, Sweet Dee gets addicted to online computer games, and I'm sure The League will compare not getting laid by the wife to Maurice Jones-Drew's holdout.

And finally, American Horror Story: Asylum's premiere date of October 17—which began showing up in trailers late last week—has been double-confirmed. This time, the spooks will be set in a mental institution in 1964 and the cast is full of even more awesome people.
