This summer, Fox will launch an Adult Swim-esque "alternative animated programming block" called Animation Domination Hi-Def (ADHD, har), and featuring several new 15-minute animated series. One of those series will be Axe Cop, based on the popular web comic created in late 2009 by a five-year-old kid named Malachi and his 29-year-old brother, Ethan. As the story goes, Ethan and Malachi were playing pretend one day when Malachi invented the Axe Cop character; Ethan, a graphic artist, decided to transform his little bro's ideas into a web comic as a way of practicing the medium. And so was born an epic tale of an axe-wielding police officer whose adventures involve everything from babysitting to fighting zombies, dinosaurs, and robots.    

Here's the official logline for the show:

Operating on only two minutes of sleep a night and fueled by a diet consisting solely of birthday cake, awesome superhero AXE COP and his loyal partner, FLUTE COP, unleash their unique brand of vigilante justice on bad guys everywhere.

And here's the first official trailer, released this weekend at WonderCon:

Um, Parks and Recreation's Nick Offerman is voicing Axe Cop himself? And Giancarlo Esposito, Jonathan Banks, Ken Marino, Patton Oswalt, and Megan Mullally are also involved in the project? Sign me up. 

Axe Cop premieres as part of Fox's ADHD animation block on Saturday, July 27 at 11pm.

Here we go again! HBO has announced a premiere date for the sixth season of its you-think-it-can't-get-any-more-ridiculous-but-then-all-of-a-sudden-Bill-is-a-naked-bloody-ghost-god vampire saga, True Blood, and released some brand-new footage to go with it. The show will return on Sunday, June 16 at 9pm, and from the looks of this promo, Season 6 will pick up exactly where Season 5 left off:

So... Bill(ith) is looking as bloody as ever; is he the new Big Bad? And what's with Eric's dopey new getup? And why is Pam trying to slap Tara—shouldn't they still be making out? And what's Alcide going on about? And what's the deal with that bearded dude in the hat who appears as the voiceover warns that "the tyrant is rising—it is the beginning of the end"?

Any and all speculation is welcome in the comments.

HBO has released a new trailer for Season 3 of Game of Thrones, and this one is 21 seconds longer than the last one! But it's almost exactly like the last one! So what's different about it? Aside from some shuffling around of scenes, the 21 extra seconds added some sexiness, a bear, an upset Brienne, and a bit more dragon. Take a look-see.

For a show that won't even be out for another six months, Syfy's Defiance has been promoted at an awful lot of conventions, with "making of" trailers and plenty of hype. But until now, we hadn't seen much of the series. That's no longer the case thanks to this new trailer, and now we can say in earnest, let the anticipation begin!

Defiance is attempting to do what hasn't quite worked before: melding the world of television and video games. A massively multiplayer online game of the same name is being produced by Trion Worlds (Rift) and will tie in to the series. Both are scheduled for release in April 2013.

But let's focus on the TV portion here, a future-set tale of aliens and Earthlings aiming to share the same crowded real estate. After their solar system is destroyed, a group of multi-species aliens looks to crash on our couch, much to the chagrin of humans. War starts, harmful technology is released, and now the planet is a dump. Thanks a lot, aliens!

Finally, a new promo for American Horror Story that's longer than 20 seconds! (Okay, this one's only 29 seconds, but still.) After all those cryptic, super-short teasers full of nuns, screaming ladies trapped in roses, and milk-filled bathtubs, here's your first real look at the cast and characters of Season 2. Hey there's Jessica Lange! And Adam Levine! And Chloe Sevigny! And Zachary Quinto! And Evan Peters! And a premiere date of October 17!

But what does it all mean?

One of the knocks against Showtime's Homeland, the best new show of last year, has been the question of sustainability. The series' premise—a decorated POW may or may not have been turned into a terrorist against his country—sounds like a fantastic logline for a miniseries, but for multiple seasons? How is that going to work?

Well the trailer below has shut this critic up with a moody minute-and-a-half of snippets from Season 2, all to the sounds of kids chanting The Police's "Every Breath You Take," which has no business working in this context except that it does! The dialogue-free trailer starts off slow, but by the end it's an accurate reminder of the paranoia, desperation, and tension that made Season 1 such a triumph.

Wow, could that have been pieced together any better? Things climb slowly with intrigue (why is Carrie going brunette? Why is Brody in the CIA's headquarters?), then get intense (why is Carrie in the Middle East? Who hasn't washed blood off of themselves at a gas station? Pill chugging!), then go full-blown insane (the Carrie cry-face! Brody flashbacks! More crying from EVERYONE!), all intercut with shots of surveillance before kicking us off the cliff with what the show is really about when Carrie *gulp* shows up at Brody's hotel room donning that remember-me-I'm-the-crazy-chick smile. Excuse me, I have to set my time machine dial for September 30. So, so good.

Homeland Season 2 premieres Sunday, September 30 at 10pm on Showtime.
